The wake of an oceanic nomadism: notes for reading La mar by Ignacio Balcells

Abstract
This article explores the proposal of a writing with a nomadic and geopoetic vocation in the book La mar by Chilean narrator Ignacio Balcells. In this book, with poor critical reception in spite of its depth and scope, a reflective and itinerant gaze unfolds about the relationship between human beings and the maritime space, inquiring into some significant dimensions of this connection. My purpose is to clarify the nomadism that determines the Balcellsian project, as well as to dwell on his reflection about the relationship between our language and maritime spatiality. Read at a time when the world's seas are facing significant degradation due to the anthropocenic environmental crisis, La mar is offered as a guide to reimagine our relationship with the ocean and to advocate for a blues ecologism from a Chilean and Latin American perspective.
