Creation versus concept: Latin American cosmogonies and their relation to explicit forms of nature
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the epistemological and semiotic tensions that exist between creation and concept in the life of Latin American communities. To do so, it takes up the knowledge and cosmogonies of these communities as spaces for biosemiotic reflection on the explicit forms of nature and on how they define their environments based on the forma-sentido-estímulo relationship (Urueña & Mangieri, 2023). Firstly, a brief state of the art on the scenarios of creation at the end of the twentieth century in Latin America is presented. Secondly, the problem of forma-sentido-estímulo in Latin American cosmogonies is addressed, with the aim of understanding that indigenous communities propose their own models for making these phenomena explicit, comparable to Lotman's semiotics of culture (2005).
