Abstract
The general objective of the research was to determine the relationship between coping styles and strengths of character in adolescents. It was a descriptive and correlational study. The sample consisted of 300 adolescents enrolled in an educational institution of the Maracaibo.
The Coping Questionnaire (COPE) by Carver, Scherer and Weantraub (1989) and the Growing Strong Scale (García Álvarez, 2019) were used. The results showed a predominance of coping focused on emotion. The main strengths of character manifested were: gratitude, love, hope, learning and kindness. Females reflected greater active coping, and males greater use of alcohol or other drugs. A positive relationship of low and significant magnitude was found between the main strengths and coping styles focused on emotion and problem.
