The Nueva Revista del Pacifico manuscripts assessment system consists of a two-step evaluation process:

a) Internal evaluation: First, submitted works will be evaluated by an Editorial Committee who may accept or reject the submitted works whether they are adequate to the submission guidelines of the journal or not.

The Nueva Revista del Pacífico will confer particular preference to the following types of studies:

  1. Studies that are the result of research projects funded by national agencies, such as FONDECYT and ANID, or other institutionally sponsored projects, national or international.
  2. Studies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the literary and linguistic fields, demonstrating theoretical support and updated bibliography of at least 15 references.
  3. Studies that follow the required Format.

b) External evaluation: Second, the works will be evaluated by two peer reviewers who may approve, approve with modifications or reject the texts. These reviewers will be chosen according to their degree of knowledge in the areas or research problems addressed by each manuscript. In the event that an article is approved by one of the referees and rejected by another, a third referee will be called upon to decide on the publication of the text.

The evaluation criteria to be considered by the peer reviewers in order to deliver their opinion are as follows:

a. Currency and originality of the topic.

b. Contribution to literary and/or linguistic studies.

c. Methodological rigor.

d. Care in the writing, coherence and presentation of the article.

e. Relevance, quality and updated bibliographic resources.

f. Quality of the conclusion.

If after the evaluation process it is determined that the text needs to be modified, the manuscript must be resubmitted, attaching a checklist that allows to appreciate the amendments made with respect to the first version.

A manuscript that has been rejected after the external evaluation process cannot be resubmitted to the journal.

Once the article has been published, subsequent modifications will not be accepted.

The evaluation time of a manuscript takes between six and eight months. Nonetheless, these time frames may be variable, depending on the availability of time of the external peers requested to collaborate with the evaluation of the articles.
