Abstract

The news is the result of institutional production that requires the application of professional routines whose use defines the work of journalist. However, the profusion of hypermedia support of social networks and their use to disseminate information has called into question the criteria of legitimacy of this process of institutional production and journalism. The challenge posed by the use of these new ways of disseminating information is whether society should propose new forms of legitimacy to prevent the risk of considering on the same plane news, rumors, opinions, views and isolated data without verification.
